Explainer video examples, with the brief behind each one

Every video below is an unedited export. The script, the drawings, the voiceover and the music all came out of Easyimate — from the one-line brief or short script shown under each video.

Technology, explained simply

Two classic explainers for non-technical viewers. One started from a single sentence; the other from a short script the user wrote.

What is a VPN?Brief: “Explain what a VPN is and why people use one.” · 29 seconds · script written by Easyimate. Two panels — the problem on café Wi-Fi, then the private tunnel — finishing on an overview of both.
What is an API?Script: “Think of an API like a waiter in a restaurant…” · 22 seconds · user's own 7-line script. One running analogy carries the whole video: customer, waiter, kitchen.

Lessons: math and money

Concepts students get stuck on, explained with a picture and a few numbers. See more on the math animation page.

The Pythagorean theoremBrief: “Explain the Pythagorean theorem with a ladder against a wall.” · 29 seconds · for middle school students. Each number is written on the board as it is said, and the formula is circled at the end.
Compound interestBrief: “Explain compound interest with $100 at 10% a year.” · 34 seconds · for high school students. The amounts grow on screen — $110, $121, $133.10 — before the formula appears.

A product explainer

A homepage-style video for an example SaaS product. More on the SaaS explainer video page.

Never show “sold out” againBrief: a one-paragraph description of an inventory app for small online stores · 24 seconds. Problem first (a lost sale), then the product, how it works in two steps, and the outcome.

What the examples have in common

Patterns Easyimate follows, and you can use in your own brief

  1. Open with a moment the viewer recognises.
  2. Carry one analogy or example through the whole video.
  3. Draw something new on every line, so the picture moves with the voice.
  4. Keep words on the board to one or two per label.
  5. End on one sentence that sums up the idea.

Questions

Were these videos edited after export?

No. They are the MP4 files Easyimate exported. The only manual step was approving or tweaking the script and storyboard before rendering, which anyone can do in the editor.

How long did each one take to make?

About a minute to write the script and storyboard, then a few minutes to render. Longer videos take longer to render.

Can I make videos in a different art style?

Today Easyimate makes whiteboard-style videos: hand-drawn scenes on a clean board, in full colour. More styles are planned.

Can I use my own script like the API example?

Yes. Paste your script and Easyimate keeps your words, then plans and draws the scenes for each line.
